Big Hill Books, a progressive, woman-owned bookstore, opened in July 2023 in the charming Bryn Mawr neighborhood. Known as the “happiest bookstore in Minneapolis,” Big Hill sells new books for all ages, gifts, games and cards. We also offer free cat therapy, courtesy of Goose and Adso.

Black Garnet Books is a Black-, queer-, woman-owned bookstore located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We sell new books focused on Black and POC authors and unique sidelines. We offer community space, space rentals, and attend local vending opportunities.

Chapter2 Books in historic downtown Hudson, Wisconsin is a women-owned and operated small store that shares our location with BackRoom Vintage. We sell new books and creativity-focused sidelines. We collaborate with local authors, businesses, and non-profits for events both on and off site.
Although our store is not ADA-compliant, we have had customers with wheelchairs and walkers shop with us. Our bathroom is also not ADA-compliant, but it has enough space for a wheelchair and another person.

Coffee House Press began as a small letterpress operation in 1972 and has grown into an internationally renowned nonprofit publisher of literary fiction, essay, poetry, and other work that doesn’t fit neatly into genre categories.

Cream & Amber is a bookstore cafe located in downtown Hopkins. We curate our shelves with new and used books across a variety of genres and also feature goods from local makers. We have a full espresso menu and local beer on tap as well as baked goods, paninis, salads, and breakfast sandwiches.
There are two steps up to the front door. The back entrance, and restroom is accessible.

DreamHaven has been a fixture in the Science Fiction/Fantasy community for decades and we're celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year. We have one of the largest selections of genre works, both new and used, you could find and we're quite happy to talk books with all book people.
The aisles are fairly crowded, but the staff rearrange items as needed to accommodate customers. There is no accessible restroom available.

Lerner Publishing Group is one of the nation's largest independent children's publishers. Based in the North Loop of Minneapolis since our founding in 1959, we publish fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults.

Located on historic Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, Red Balloon has been connecting people with books and creators for over 42 years. We are a children's bookstore offering books and gifts for all ages. Each year, we host hundreds of events and have strong school and book fair partnerships.

The Thinking Spot is Minnesota’s first & only science-first independent bookstore for all ages! We have science books (of course!), a great fiction collection, kids’ books galore, STEM toys, puzzles, and more. We host Book Clubs, Author Events, Storytimes, Tech Clubs, and one-off community events.

We carry romance titles in the following subgenres: contemporary, historical, paranormal, fantasy, dark, erotica, and YA; and adjacent nonfiction and romance-adjacent titles with intentional emphasis on queer and BIPOC romance.

Uncle Hugo’s Science Fiction Bookstore opened in 1974. Uncle Edgar’s Mystery Bookstore opened nearby in 1980. In 1984 they moved into a single larger space. After that building was burned during the 2020 George Floyd riots they moved to the current location, selling both new and used books.

University of Minnesota Bookstore is an independent campus store featuring about 20,000 general books, and an extensive gift, clothing, supply and technology selection. We feature a variety of new, midlist and backlist titles, including faculty authors and academic disciplines.

Wild Rumpus Books, opened in 1992, is an independent bookstore specializing in children's and young adult literature. Our store is home to a menagerie of creatures, including Manx cats, chinchillas, fish, reptiles, and birds. We also host regular story times, book clubs, and events.
