Meet with small and mid-size publishers for informal conversations. These publishers will have sample copies of their books, and some will have additional copies for giveaways.

The Affinity Group Meetups are dedicated spaces reserved for booksellers, publishing staff, and authors who identify as members of the Black, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, Disability, and/or Neurodiverse bookseller communities to gather for community, support, resources, and networking. These spaces are not open to press or media representatives. Affinity Group members are welcome to utilize these spaces in addition to and alongside all other social spaces during the conference.

The communities served by affinity group members are also welcome to utilize the Affinity Group pop-up meeting room in Aspen on the Mezzanine level of the Tower Building if you need a space to gather or meet individually or as a group during the conference, or just take a moment to yourselves in a dedicated space. While allies are greatly appreciated, these spaces are available only for people who identify as members of these communities. However, if you are in the process of exploring your identity and relationship with a community, you are welcome!

The Quiet Room is intended to provide a quiet, calm space where attendees can spend time away from noise, bright light, and other stimuli of conference spaces. Put your feet up and relax. This space is not available for conversations or meetings.

A morning 12-Step Meeting is held each day at 7:00 am. All in recovery are welcome. A schedule of local meetings can also be found at the Denver Area Central Committee of Alcoholics Anonymous.

ABA is a non-profit trade association. In a trade association, members help run the organization by joining councils and committees and they serve on the Board of Directors. These are all voluntary and unpaid positions. At ABA, member bookstore owners and booksellers who work in member stores may also participate in education as panelists or speakers. These participants are paid a $100 honorarium. This rate is comparable with market rate in the book industry and among trade associations. Publishers support authors appearing at Winter Institute, and training companies that facilitate education are paid by ABA.
